Since 2008 Profile Aware Limited have been contracted by the UK Government to assist in the development and delivery of behavioural detection training.
Profile Aware Ltd deliver training to law enforcement, government agencies and the private sector responsible for iconic sites, sporting events and education establishments.
The training provided by Profile Aware Ltd is standard across all their client base, ensuring the behaviours, the language/terminology and the process used are interoperable.
Hugh Conerney, Director, stated ‘this interoperability is key in partnership working across the NTE. It allows police, private security and CCTV to become seamless in their deterrent and detection processes.

The company utilises trainers who are recognised experts in their fields, with experience in counter terrorism, aviation and marine port policing, serious organised crime, and the military, as well as the public and private security environments.
In 2019, Profile Aware Ltd undertook development work with Thames Valley Police (TVP) to utilise Behavioural Detection in policing their night-time economies (NTE).
In the Thames Valley Police pilot the figures showed how effective directed policing coupled with trained BD officers could be. To quote DCI James Senior, head of Project Vigilant in 2019/20: ‘It is difficult to measure success, but when the project first began, from June to December 2019, rape offences were reduced by 50 per cent, and sexual assaults by 30 per cent in Oxford’s City Centre.’
Profile Aware Ltd continued their training relationship with TVP and assisted in the development of the National ‘Project Vigilant’. They now undertake BD NTE training to assist UK police forces and the private security industry in their Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG) strategies.
Twelve of the UK police forces have received BD NTE training from Profile Aware Ltd, with some forces also using elements of the tactic to police their registered sexual offenders. Other forces are seeking funding to join the growing number of forces utilising Profile Aware’s unique skillset.
Profile Aware Ltd utilises behaviours that have been empirically tested, through their links with the UK security services. This testing ensures that the behaviours utilised are culturally neutral, providing reassurance that those undertaking interdiction activity, based on detection of such behaviours, are not undertaking profiling based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation etc.
