Our Safer City autumn update
The City of London Crime Prevention Association initiative ‘Our Safer City’, which aims to prevent violence against women and girls and domestic abuse, continues to make an impact. One key scheme within Our Safer City is Safe Havens. Below we highlight two new premises which have recently joined in the City of London.
One Lombard Street becomes a Safe Haven
The restaurant One Lombard Street recently become a Safe Haven. This was marked by a prestigious event attended by the Lady Mayoress and Don Randall MBE, Chairman of Our Safer City, who congratulated owner Søren Jessen on this significant achievement.
Safe Havens provide a secure place for rest and support for people who are feeling vulnerable. They provide facilities such as contacting family and friends, or emergency services. There are 42 premises, such as shops, offices and restaurants, designated as Safe Havens in the City of London. They are committed to providing a secure and supportive environment for anyone in need. It is hoped that other establishments within hospitality are inspired to become Safe Havens too.
The Guildhall accredited as Safe Haven
The security and reception personnel at the City of London Guildhall have received the specialist Safe Haven training from the Safer Business Network. Door and window stickers are on display to indicate that the building is a Safe Haven and the location is included in the Safe Haven app.
The Safe Haven app
The Safe Haven app helps you find the nearest Safe Haven to your current location. It is free to download and is compatible with all mobile devices. When activated, the app guides you to the nearest Safe Haven location and alerts the on-site team.
